Day 13 Ages - Burgos
We climbed a logn way yp again today over a rough and rocky sheep track with lots of sheep dung too! At the top there was a wonderful view of the valley and green fields and distant mountains. There was also a huge wooden cross at the top. We walked for a while with woman from Quebec who now lives in Brussels. She was so interesting that we picked up our pace just to talk with her. Before we knew it we were just 4 kms from our destination! Tonight we are in the historical city of Burgos at the Municipal Albergue - 150 beds on 6 floors - they even have an elevator. We are on the 3rd floor (which is actually the 4th floor since what we call the first floor is floor zero here). There are six floor to ceiling lockers full of boots (one for each floor so you can find your boots in the morning!). There is a lot to see in Burgos if you want to be a tourist. You can stroll the plazas - and there are a lot of them - and just people watch while you sip yhour wine or beer and enjoy the sunshine. The cathedral is amazing with all of the ornate filigree and the spires are so tall!! It is beautiful! They had a pilgrims´mass tonight and at the end the priest blessed all of the pilgrims and prayed we have a safe journey and a safe return to our families. Dear family and friends, know that you are prayed for in every church, chapel and cathedral we visit. Buen Camino!
