The church bells were chiming 7 o´clock this morning as we walked the empty streets of Astorga. The wind was blowing colder and stronger than yesterday so we put on an extra layer of clothes. An hour up the road we stopped for cafe con leche and French toast where the bar owner added some ¨perfume¨ to the toast (tasted like Amaretto). We also stopped further on at the Cowboy Bar in El Ganso. It looked a little incongruous - there were western antiques and pictures and a couple of large tables with benches, then there was a framed rug on the wall depicting Muslims at prayer. We arrived around noon at the Municipal Albergue and there are lots of beds available- not bunks!! We are at an elevation of 1150 meters and it is quite cool. Tomorrow we climb to 1504 meters to Cruz de Ferro (the Iron Cross) where we will leave a stone brought from home as a symbol of love and blessing - yes, we still have your stone! Buen Camino!
