Day 17 Itero de la Vega to Poblacion de Campos

We slept in!  It was a quarter after seven when we got up.  We had paid for our breakfast the night before so the young people who run the Albergue La Mochila set out a thermos of coffee, a liter of milk, two saucers with margarine and jam and a basket with slices of baguette with our name in it. We had to microwave our coffee and toast our baguette, except the toaster did not work.  Eight kms. down the road at Bodilla del Camino we stopped for breakfast again.  We walked a great path today beside an irrigation canal.  I could imagine Cis and Jack paddling their canoe there.  We walked through Fromista and on to Poblacion de Campos.  We are staying at another Municipal Hostel.  We had to register at the hotel down the street and they also offer a Pilgrims Dinner.  Tonight dinner was excellent, a tomato soup with some chorizo and pasta, then two slices of pork roast with small potatoes and roasted red pepper.  Dessert has homemade custard with cinnamon.  Wine and water and a coffee liquor to finish.  Very nice.  So far at most of these hostels there have been more women than men, but tonight there are more men than women.  I think it will definitely be an ear plug night.  Buen Camino!
