Day 8 Najera to Cirueña 15.1 Kms

Almost everyone is up early - some are still snoring. Almost 90
people are trying to be quiet while they organize their packs - the
rustle of sleeping bags being stuffed into carry bags, bathroom doors
being slammed quietly, the smells of breakfast being prepared, the
search for walking sticks in that pile in the garbage can, trying to
spy your boots - which looked very distinctive when you put them on
the shelf yesterday. Water bottles are filled, feet are slathered
with vaseline, packs are cinched and we are off. Follow the yellow
arrows out of town (up the hill)! It is all up hill this morning but
not too steep. Breakfast in Azofra - the usual. Climb, climb, climb,
when we look back there is a long line of pilgrims. Today will be a
short day - I have a small blister that I want to look after right
away and we have been wallking for eight days! We are in the Auberge
Virgen de Guadalupe. The owner, Pedro Marie, is making dinner and
breakfast in the morning.
The church bell rings ten minutes before the hour,
The cafe - Bar Jacobeo - offers free internet,
Pedro will sell you an unlabelled bottle of wine for 3 Euros (but
don´t spill any)!
Buen Camino!
